TMS System 2000:

SYSTEM 2000 - AUTOMATIC MARINE STEAM PLANT CONTROL

The SYSTEM 2000 is divided into two sections - the FIREWATCH 2000 BURNER MANAGEMENT, and the POWERMASTER 2000 COMBUSTION CONTROL.

The duty of the FIREWATCH 2000 BURNER MANAGEMENT is to oversee and control the various boiler front devices. It provides fully automatic operation, while still allowing complete manual override if desired. Boiler Room safety is the top priority with this system, therefore a comprehensive array of status and alarm indicators is included to warn operators in the event of any problem.

All aspects of the FIREWATCH 2000 are controlled by the industry accepted and remarkably reliable GE FANUC 90-30 series Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). This PLC is among the most popular in the industry, and enjoys a worldwide installed base. The system also includes local switching to provide operators with full-override manual control of every boiler front device for maximum flexibility.

All new boiler-front devices have been carefully chosen from the finest manufacturers. Our team of installers is dedicated to providing the highest quality and most rugged finished product available anywhere. And there is a sometimes rare and rather welcome commitment to a clean and attractive installation evident in all the work that our guys turn out.

The POWERMASTER 2000 COMBUSTION CONTROL is a fully automated Combustion Control system with a sophisticated Oxygen trim feature for maximum efficiency. The system is based on the popular and very rugged Yokogawa YS170 Single Loop Programmable Controllers (SLPCs). The SLPC units are programmable, microprocessor-based instruments which provide signal computation, control, and logic sequencing functions. These units are very user friendly, and are supported worldwide by their manufacturer.

All field-mounted input and output devices have been chosen for their accuracy and reliability. Installed and calibrated with care and dedication, these end devices have been proven again and again to be reliable and trouble free.

While it is certainly important to use the finest of components for maximum reliability, it is the internal TMS software, which is truly the secret of the SYSTEM 2000. The TMS engineers have developed intelligent and problem-free source code to direct the programmable devices. Over the past ten years, operators have found their SYSTEM 2000s to be almost uncanny in their ability to anticipate and react to changes in their steam plants. Because of this carefully designed and truly fully automatic software, one Chief Engineer happily renamed his SYSTEM 2000 the "NO-TOUCH 2000".

The following processes are commonly controlled by SYSTEM 2000:
  • Steam flows
  • Drum levels
  • Drum pressures
  • Boiler Air flow
  • Deaerator level
  • Feed water flows
  • Fuel Oil temperature
  • Super heater pressures
  • HP or IP Bleed pressure
  • Condenser Hot well level
  • Super heater temperatures
  • Stack Gas Oxygen Content
  • Auxiliary Exhaust pressure
  • Atmospheric Drain Tank level
  • F.O. Pump discharge pressure
  • Burner Header F.O. pressures
  • Steam to F.O. heater pressure
  • Turbine Steam Chest pressures
  • Feed Pump discharge pressures
